Oilfield Life
I'm an oilfield wife. This basically means that my husband leaves our family for weeks at a time to provide for us so I can stay home with the kids. Is it hard? Yes. I always look so forward to the days that he comes home. Sometimes during the time he's away, I get so lonely that I don't think I'm going to make it. It makes me appreciate single mothers and their struggles much more. Being the only parent for two weeks is enough for me.
I'm always proud of my husband and his sacrifices, though. I always try to send pics, funny stories, videos. I pray that the kids' milestones happen during the time he's home. I can't imagine not seeing my little ones for weeks at a time.
Which leads me to the reason for this whole blog. I am so thankful that I get to be here for all the sweet moments.
Natalie loves mornings and once she has had her breakfast, she is the sweetest little girl. She crawls in my lap and gives me the sweetest two-tooth smile. She still has that sweet smell and gives the best hugs.
Daniel is getting to the terrible twos, and sometimes he can be a challenge. He's learning that he can fight anything I tell him, so sometimes we butt heads. But there's this special time at night that I look forward to more than anytime during the day. After bath, after teeth brushing time, after Natalie has gone to bed - Daniel crawls into bed with me, and it's our special time. We say night prayers where we bring all of our friends and family to The Lord and ask for special blessings on them. We go through each and every person we know. He hugs me tightly and says "I love you, Mommy" and "give me a kiss!" Over and over. He tells me sweet little stories about his grandparents, what he wants to do (going to the park is always in there), and asks me "why?" only a thousand times.
Thank you, Steve, for your sacrifices and for having to miss these moments. I know the pics, messages, and videos don't measure up, but it's the least I can do. See you in a week and a half.
Now I'm off for night prayers -

This made me cry! Hard working men our the best and they are few and far between! Some people do not understand what they sacrifice every day to provide the best for their families!
