Hangin' Tough
Every once in awhile, I like to pretend I'm not 28 years young and I get a wild hair. My latest adventure was the NKOTBSB concert in Lafayette last night. I was a big fan of the NKOTB when I was little and I was determined to marry Jordan Knight. I was lucky enough to finally see them in concert back in 2008. I went thinking that it had been 20 years so it may not be the greatest. Boy was I wrong. I found myself geeking out like a little school girl, singing all the songs, and having a blast with my friends.
I was a little sad that my friends were going this year without me. I didn't get tickets with them because of Steve's work schedule.
Steve is home right now, so when I had an opportunity to win two tickets on the radio station, I was took it. Thanks to the most awesome DJ ever, Nancy, I had some tickets and was on my way to the concert.
With two tickets, who would I take?
So we loaded up the girls, and we were on our way.
I've always believed that the journey there is an adventure in itself. This one did not prove to be any different.
We stopped before the concert to meet up with Mandy and eat at Izzo's Illegal Burrito.
If you've never had Izzo's, you are definitely missing out. This place is fantastic.
They have a promotion that if you like them on FaceBook, you can win a $100 gift card. They give one away every Friday.
A few weeks back, I was that winner. :) Free awesome food is always the best.
(And are you getting the feeling that June was my month? Free tickets and free gift cards. Plus all of my free samples...I feel on top of the world! Move over Leonardo DiCaprio...I'm queen of the world!)
So Karianna and I had some delicious burritos...
...and Sarah and Mandy had nachos.
Because he was going to a NKOTBSB concert, I think Steve ordered the biggest burrito on the menu to re-establish his manhood.
Like seriously, here it is compared to mine. And my burrito was huge.
So after some mandatory girl pics in the parking lot, we were on our way.
So then we're off to the Cajundome. There were so many people there, that we had to park miles away. Or at least that's what it felt like. I felt bad for all of the girls with the stilettos who had to walk that far. Steve made the comment "I can survive through this concert, but add this hike to it? That's almost too much!"
We finally made it in and maybe I got a little excited.
This was our view of the stage.
And this was our view of Karianna, Sarah, and Mandy.
I would have taken more pics but a) we were too far away b) I was focused on the show c) Steve and I did some extensive people watching. Everywhere we looked there was a show in addition to the concert. To our left was the girl who dirty danced to every song......I think they could have sang their ABCs and the girl would have made it risque'. To our right we had dramatic interpretive dance girl. Apparently she was a huge fan of BSB and their music had a deep, profound meaning to her. The winner was a girl Steve and I named "Mouse"....she was quiet in the beginning but she really opened up. I can't even describe what she was doing in this blog so we can keep in G rated. Steve also had to save a poor drunk girl who couldn't find her seats and wore the aforementioned stilettos. Stairs + stilettos + alcohol = not a good combination.
As far as the concert went, it was awesome. I was never a big BSB fan, but I knew a lot of their songs and they put on a good show. Our section was definitely a BSB group. NKOTB were awesome, as always. (I could totally insert some corny joke about how they've still got "The Right Stuff" and were "Hangin' Tough", but I'm not. Wait, I think I just did. Never mind.)
After the concert, we met up with the girls. They were hoarse, tired, and were still so excited. Karianna licked her hand that touched Danny Wood.
They were still on adrenaline highs from NKOTB encounters, near fights, and boy band music overload.
Finally it was time to travel home, but not after stopping for the world's worst cookie at Race Track.
And then we finally made it home at 3 a.m. Daniel was happy to see us, but he was so confused as to why we were still awake at such a crazy hour. Today I woke up and felt like I had been in a car wreck. I then realized my age is catching up with me, and I'm not 18 anymore. I wouldn't trade our good times and memories for anything, though.
I can't wait until our next adventure....minus that horrible cookie.
